Welcome to Setowu WikiEdit

The Wikia community (and the general public as well as all those interested in constructed languages) are invited to participate in the creation of an encyclopedia in a brand new language! The language is called Setowu (which, in the language itself, is the word for "language"...logically enough.)

The Setowu dictionary is made up a list of words:

• Particles are words which achieve links between words similar to those described at the Link Grammar site
• Concepts are words derived from the list of category index headwords of the Roget II Thesaurus
• Terms are words derived from Charles Kay Ogden's list of Basic English words

In addition, Setowu has a list of official Rules governing how correct sentences in the language are constructed, and an optional Alphabet for use by those who might prefer there to be an alternate mode of expression of the language besides the Roman alphabet or other alphabets that are ethnoculturally specific rather than general.

Editors on this site are encouraged to use any of the above resources as a guide to posting content to the site.

Anyone working with the Setowu alphabet is encouraged to use a Unicode font, as the Setowu letters are part of the Unicode character set. For optimum rendering of the Setowu alphabet, please install the "Arial Unicode MS" if it is not already on your computer. The site has now been upgraded to recognize the use of this font to properly display the alphabet.

A "Public Chat" page has been added for those who are interested in trying out the language "conversationally" after reading up on some of the language resources shown above.

The site demonstrates the use of the language with respect to a number of translation problems, ranging from the more typical to more atypical examples. For a list of the translation problems already included on the site, click here.

Another project for the site is to begin to include Wikipedia-style encyclopedic entries. For a list of the entries already included on the site, click here.
